The Educational and Learning Group was established in 2007 and at present consists of the following members;

Dr Belinda Beaton BA (Hons. – Queen’s University, Canada), MA (University of Toronto), D. Phil. (Oxon) – historian and a specialist on the Duke of Wellington and the cultural impact of the Battle of Waterloo. She also writes articles about museums and on the presentation of history on television. She has been interviewed by BBC Radio 4, the CBC and Channel 4.

Mrs Alice Berkeley BA FRSA FINS – historian, with an interest in after-hours teaching, member and trustee of the Waterloo Committee, member of the Waterloo200 Committee and of Project Hougoumont, having taken responsibilities for culture and international links – with the Belgian Waterloo Committee, the Anglo-Portuguese Society and links with the commemoration of the Congress of Vienna.

Mr Paul Brunyee Dip.Ed. MA – historian, secondary school teacher who has experience in working with children with learning difficulties, membership secretary of the Waterloo Committee. He fosters an interest in Napoleon’s sojourn on St Helena.

Mr Peter Caddick-Adams TD BA (Hons) PhD – author, military historian, defence analyst, battlefield tour guide, researcher, broadcaster and lecturer in defence studies, also a tri-service battlefield tour guide.

Mr Michael Crumplin MB BS MRCS FRCS (Eng and Ed) FHS FINS – medical military historian, author, trustee and treasurer of the Waterloo Committee and co-ordinator of the education and learning committee of Waterloo 200. He provides advice on historic medical matters to the media.

Mr John Divall B. Ed. and Mrs Carole Divall BA MA – both former teachers in secondary schools. Mrs Carole Divall is an authoress, researcher and historian – also secretary to the education and learning group of Waterloo 200. Carole Divall has a particular interest in regimental history. John Divall is involved with our evolving website.

Colonel Geoffrey Draper BSc. M.Ed. BA – retired Regular Army officer, recently Commanding Officer of the Defence Centre of Training Support at Halton. Providing strategic and professional advice and support to the education and learning group – links with the MOD. Now CEO Royal National College for the Blind

Mr Julian Jeffrey BA PGCE – Head of History at an independent school, Wellington College, Berkshire. He has been involved in linking together the independent schools

Mrs Dianne Smith BSc MSc MBA PGCE – retired Regional Adviser for the South East – Training and Development Agency for Schools. She was much involved in educational aspects of the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. Lead in schools activities for the education and learning committee. Her expertise will help find ways of bringing our commemorations in to the classroom.

Mrs Frances Carver BA – link member to Waterloo 200 Committee, where her role is in marketing and promotion. She serves on the Committee’s Executive Committee.
